Stakeholder survey reveals positive perceptions of NOPSEMA

The results of our 2025 stakeholder survey are in, and they show strong and growing confidence in NOPSEMA.

The independent survey assessed our performance and effectiveness against our statutory roles. In total, 34 stakeholders responded, representing industry, government, conservation groups, unions and Indigenous representative bodies.

Strong confidence and clear improvement

Stakeholders continue to see NOPSEMA as a high performing and effective regulator.

  • More than half of respondents rated NOPSEMA as effective or very effective.
  • More than 80 per cent reported medium to very high confidence in the organisation.
  • Stakeholders reported a clear improvement over the past two years, with average performance ratings increasing from around 5.3–5.4 to 6.3–6.6 out of 10.
  • Around 70 per cent of respondents said enforcement activity was professional and fair.
  • More than 60 per cent agreed NOPSEMA is focused on the right issues.

Our people make the difference

Feedback about NOPSEMA staff was consistently positive. Stakeholders described our people as high calibre, proactive and responsive, and clearly separate the challenges of the system from staff conduct.

  • More than 96 per cent of respondents said employees demonstrate organisational values at least sometimes, with none saying they fail to do so.
  • More than 75 per cent rated their engagement with staff as effective or very effective.
