Remade RMA Regulations now in effect

The Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2025 (RMA Regulations) remake comes into effect today, marking an important milestone in the implementation of the regulatory framework.

The RMA Regulations cover resource management and administration, well operations management plans and well activities, data management and reporting for petroleum and greenhouse gas storage and other regulatory and administrative matters. The RMA Regulations were updated to ensure they remain fit for purpose, strengthen oversight and improve transparency.

NOPSEMA has sought feedback from industry via information sessions, presentations, forums, and through formal consultation via a dedicated Citizen Space page.

The coming period will focus on bedding down the Regulations in practice while identifying opportunities to learn, refine and continuously improve how we operate under the new arrangements.
