A new co-branded fact sheet is now available to help clarify when NOPSEMA or the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is responsible for safety regulation of offshore vessels and structures.

The fact sheet explains how regulatory responsibility can depend on where a vessel or structure is operating, what activity it is undertaking and its operational status. It also outlines the role of state and territory regulators in coastal waters.

Importantly, it includes practical case studies showing how these arrangements apply in common offshore scenarios, including when regulatory responsibility transfers between NOPSEMA and AMSA.

Take a look at the new fact sheet to learn more about where NOPSEMA’s and AMSA’s responsibilities apply.
