The latest issue of The Regulator magazine
Our first issue of The Regulator for 2026 is here.
A key focus of this issue is the remake of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations, which commenced on 31 March 2026.
The updated regulations modernise Australia's offshore resource framework, with stronger reporting, improved data management and enhanced oversight of well integrity. Together, these changes ensure Australia's offshore regulatory regime remains contemporary, transparent and fit for purpose.
This edition also highlights new and updated guidance aimed at improving safety and compliance outcomes. We introduce new guidance on managing psychosocial hazards, including preventing sexual harassment in the workplace, and explain the intent behind our updated Securing compliance - Inspection conclusions and advice guidance.
We provide practical advice on writing effective Environmental Performance Outcomes and invite community stakeholders to engage with NOPSEMA by applying to join the Community and Environment Reference Group, or CERG.
Leadership, capability and continuous improvement are recurring themes across this edition. We share insights from NOPSEMA's Better Practice Forum on leadership and safety, reflect on regulatory expert Malcolm Sparrow's visit to Perth late last year, and provide an update on Project CORE, our major digital transformation program.
You can explore all of these stories and more in the latest edition of The Regulator.
